“Seeing then that we have a great high priest … Jesus the Son of God ...”
Serious Jews … since the beginning of time … have depended greatly on their High Priest. The High Priest was and is an important part of Jewish life. The High Priest was and is the people’s representative in God’s presence, but the problem with the Jewish High Priest was and is this: he was and is only human and was and is allowed only limited time in the presence of God.
On the other hand, our High Priest, aka Jesus, aka our Savior and Lord, spends all of His time in God’s presence … at God’s right hand … talking to Him about our darkest days.
What does Romans 8:34 say, “Christ Jesus … is at the right hand of God and is interceding for us.” Why? Because Jesus knows what a dark day feels like … Jesus has been through the worst that life has to offer and He is determined that His followers not go through tough situations on their own, but instead, with an advocate … with a voice … with an intercessor in the presence of the Father.
Even now, Jesus is representing us … and our situations … in God’s presence and He is pleading for divine intervention on our behalf.
There is no attitude too negative.
No person too grumpy. No individual too mean! No bill to large. No child so lost! No words too hurtful! No know it all so all knowing! No personality to dull. No person beyond hope! No divorce too devastating. No family member too obnoxious. No disease too deadly. No challenge too great! No death so saddening! No physical shortcoming too embarrassing. No mind so gone! No depression too deep! No failure too great! No marriage so hopeless! No mess too messy! No decision so bad! No discouragement too damaging and no drama so ready for Hollywood that can conquer a follower of Jesus who knows for a fact that Jesus is forever interceding to the Father for His children!
