Look with me at Exodus 2:3, “…when (Jochebed) could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.”

If Jochebed’s son was going to be thrown into the Nile, she was going to be the one to do it. Folks, the Nile was and is a rather large body of water. There were and are wild animals such as alligators and hippopotamuses in the vicinity.  However, Jochebed showed confidence that her God would deliver her son Moses.

Jochebed placed Moses at the doorstep of the man who hated Moses the most – the new king aka Pharaoh himself.

Why? Because Jochebed had confidence that her God would deliver Moses … … and wow, did God ever deliver!

Look with me at Exodus 2:5-10! ”Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it. She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. ‘This is one of the Hebrew babies,’ she said. Then (Moses’ Sister) asked Pharaoh’s daughter, ‘Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?’ ‘Yes, go,’ she answered. So the girl went and got the baby’s mother. Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, ‘Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.’ So the woman took the baby and nursed him. When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, ‘I drew him out of the water.’”

Think about the miracle of this!

God used the daughter of his enemy - the one who was trying to destroy Moses - to ultimately save Moses. Not only was Jochebed given back her baby, but she was even paid to take care of her own son. What a miracle! What a story of deliverance! Jochebed had confidence in her God.

Do you have confidence in your God?  My God is able to deliver thee!

God promises the Christian deliverance today. What does Romans 8:28 say, “…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him?”

Maybe you have been abused! God can deliver you! Maybe your spouse divorced you for no reason. God can deliver you! Maybe a few bills or some health problems have you at the end of your rope. God can deliver you! Maybe you are lonely. God can deliver you! If your past is eating your lunch. God can deliver you! Maybe you are overcome by the loss of a loved one. God can deliver you! Maybe things at work are a dumpster fire. God can deliver you! In regard to your mortgage, your migraines, your marriage and your mother in law, God can deliver you!

You may think that your children are beyond hope, my God is able to deliver Steve, Thee and Me!
