No More Nit Picking!

No more nit picking!

Quit looking for the worst in people. Look for the best! We all have weaknesses. Even you! No one is perfect. Not even you!

The phrase nit picking comes from the task of removing the tiny eggs of lice (nits) from someone’s hair and clothing. That task is a tedious activity that requires close attention. Nit-picking another person is tedious activity that requires close attention. Nit picking is a miserable existence where others are constantly seen through a microscope and not a telescope. What I find amusing is this. Many are good at closely seeing the nits on others, but some are not so good at seeing the nits on themselves.

At the end of the day, nit picking is petty criticism and carnal fault and flaw finding that offers up no constructive advise whatsoever.

Ephesians 4:29 says, “...let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up…”

The question that all of us must ask ourselves is this. What does God mean by unwholesome talk?

Are you good news or are you bad news? Are you an encourager or a discourager?
