That Pencil!

In the midst of the good life, let none of us let down our guard and settle for nothing, but Godliness and passion for all things kingdom.

Let me paint a picture of caution for me and for us.When a new stimulus is introduced into our environment, we are intensely aware of it, but then, we tend to adapt and awareness fades. Have you ever looked all over the place for the pencil that you placed behind your ear? What happened? Awareness faded! When God was introduced into some of our environments, we were intensely aware of His presence, but then, for some, awareness faded because they grew too comfortable with God’s great provision. Some have become satisfied because God has given them so much! We do not have to live sub par lives for God as a result of being so blessed, but some do. Some of us are so provided for that we are not nearly as worried about right and wrong as we once were. Some of us are so blessed that good enough is good enough for God stuff, but good enough is never good enough for secular stuff.

Stuff and abundance has made some of us lukewarm. How can that be?

Folks! Here is what I am thinking! Let the good times roll because we will still live lives of integrity and character and passion and faithfulness no matter how much “stuff” God lavishes on us.

Church, today, in light of how blessed I am, in light of how blessed you are and in light of how blessed we are, let us fall back in love with the words of Jesus found in Matthew 6:33 that say, “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Friends, things are going well. Let us stay on our guard. We can be blessed and well provided for and still be people of integrity and character and passion and faithfulness.

As of today, let us prove to God that we can be trusted with His great provision. Now that things are going so well, we must stay true to our high calling. Let us never grow soft because we have it made! Let us not forsake our first love. Let us keep on doing the things that we did when we first believed or when we were not so blessed.

LFCN, let our tri county region know that we are well provided for and that in the midst of that provision, we will serve with joy unspeakable and full of glory not to mention with integrity and character and passion and faithfulness.
