“Jesus went up on a mountainside and called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach.”
This is the Principle of Delegation. Why do some people have a hard time delegating? From what I have gleaned from my reading, the #1 reason is perfectionism.
"If you want a job done right, do it yourself." That is a nice idea, but it is also a nice way to irritate your glands. There are too many things to be done and you do not have the time, the energy nor the gifts to do them all at the same time. It is virtually impossible and very nerve wracking.
According to our text, Jesus gathered twelve men around Him, appointed them and then sent them out to do the same thing that He had been doing. Do you think that Jesus would have and could have done a better job than His disciples?
Of course He would have and could have, but He delegated so that we might do likewise.
