Look at Acts 6:10, “…they could not stand up against (Stephen’s) wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke.”
In this case, Stephen’s testimony rebuffed ungodly thinking! Stephen’s opposition could not stand up against what God was doing inside of Him. Plain and simple, Steven’s testimony about Jesus was more powerful than any tool set into motion to stop that testimony. There will be those times when we must stand up for what is right in the midst of what is wrong, but God is always greater than he who is in the world ...but…not only is our testimony suppose to shed light on darkness, it is also intended to stir other believers!
I love a good testimony!
I love a good testimony to the world out there, but I really love a good testimony to our church family in here. What am I getting at? The longer I Pastor, the more convinced I become that God’s people need to hear good things from God’s people! Sometimes, those who sit in these seats need to be encouraged to keep on living the right way.
I am talking about developing a new appreciation for a brief, fresh, relevant word of testimony from the people of God about how God has come through for them. Today, let us all celebrate again – fresh and a new -- what Revelation 12:11 says, “…they overcame (the devil) because of the word of their testimony…”
Testimonies are the way that we give God glory, but there is a side benefit as well. Hearing a testimony is like borrowing faith from someone else. If God did it for them … He can do it for me! God is moving and we must talk about it in the presence of one another!
All of us need to be testimony tellers and testimony collectors.
